About Parenting By Virtues
Parenting by Virtues (PBV) is not a philosophy. It is a practical parenting approach that aims to help parents overcome anger, confusion, and fear in parenting. Inspired by the timeless wisdom of Confucius, PBV seeks to help parents become calm, confident and competent by following the 3-Step Approach to Effective Parenting:
- Stay Calm with Benevolence
- Reason with Wisdom
- Act with Courage
"Seven years ago, my twelve years old daughter asked me to read her diary. This extraordinary opportunity allowed me to see myself through her eyes. What I saw was a helpless girl striving for understanding from a mother who was constantly angry and too confused to even try to understand her.
It was a frightening and painful experience. Yet, it drove me to go beyond learning from another parenting expert or taking another child psychology course. I turned to the one teacher who had taught millions how to use virtues to clarify their own thoughts and rectify their hearts. This teacher is Confucius. By applying his famous teachings of benevolence, wisdom, and courage to my parenting studies, I was able to take control of my emotions and truly love and understand my children like never before.
My transformation has been so remarkable and rewarding that I have written a book to share my discovery with other parents.
It is never too late to make a change. It is never too late to become a 'better' parent. May the power of benevolence, wisdom, and courage help you make a change and become the 'better' parent your heart desires.
